On March 8, 2022, the Indonesian Women's Islamic Student Movement Corps (KOPRI) held a dialogue titled "Women and the Challenge of Civilization" to commemorate International Women's Day (IWD) in Bandar Lampung, Indonesia.
Students from various universities participated in the event. The three featured speakers came from diverse religious backgrounds - Chepry Chaeruman Hutabarat, the Founder of the Klasika, Ana Yunita Pratiwi, the Head of Damar Lampung Province, and Yuli Nugrahani, the Chairperson of Communication Forum for Community Participation in Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (Puspa).
Yuli Nugrahani, a Catholic figure who is also the Chair of the Puspa, said that environmental issues directly affect women.
“Therefore, women's organizations must be involved in preserving nature's balance,” said Nugrahani.
"Starting with simple things like planting trees around the house and switching to more environmentally friendly bags," she explained.
Diana Berliyani, the head of KOPRI, said that the discourse on women must continue to be encouraged.
According to her, women must have a space to express themselves.
“Despite the advancement and the dynamics of contemporary discourse, I believe that women's conversation should be fostered.
She added, “KOPRI, which focuses on the cadre of women in this case, either through discourse or through channels that foster cadre potential."
